Reps deputy majority leader Buba Jibril dies at 58

The member, representing Lokoja/Kogi Federal constituency in the House of Representatives, Umar Baba Jibril, is dead.
Aged 58 years, Jibril, a three time member of the house, died in the early hours of Friday in Abuja, one of his political associates, Amuda Dan Sulaiman, confirmed to the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN).
He was until his death, the deputy majority leader of the house. He was also a former speaker of the Kogi state House of Assembly.
In a statement signed by the speaker of the House, Yakubu Dogara, Jibrin was described as “an upright man, a leader per excellence, a patriotic, committed hardworking lawmaker and a worthy representative
“We regret to announce the passing away of our friend, brother, colleague and leader, Umar Buba Jibrin, Deputy Leader of the House of Representatives, whose sad demise occurred in the early hours of Friday, after a protracted illness," the statement read.
According to the statement, Jibrin will be buried on Friday in Lokoja after the 
The House extended its heart felt condolences to his immediate family, wives, children, relations, constituents and people of Kogi.
Jibril had sponsored a controversial bill is recommending the setting up of yet another government agency, to be known as the NGO Regulatory Commission that is meant to issue licences to all NGOs, which would require renewing such licences, every two years.
Despite much criticism against the NGO bill, he said that the house would still pass the bill, to forestall illegal activities of some of the organisations, assuring that churches, mosques and market women associations were not affected by the bill.

The lawmaker slumped at his Gwarimpa residence, Abuja on Saturday, March 17, and was rushed to Viewpoint Hospital, where he was certified dead. He died at the age of 58.
The death of Wakili who served as chairman of the Senate committee on poverty alleviation was confirmed by the special adviser to the Senate president on media and publicity, Yusuph Olaniyonu in a phone call.
The president of the Senate, Bukola Saraki, and the speaker of House of Representatives, Yakubu Dogara, expressed sadness over the death of Senator Wakili who was the chairman of the Senate committee on poverty alleviation.
